Terms & Conditions.

These terms are specific to Doddl: the mobile app and the doddl.app website. By creating an account you agree to them. They’re written to be read, not skimmed past. They’re short.

1. Who we are

Doddl is provided by Doddl Labs Limited (“we”, “us”).

2. What Doddl does

Doddl helps you keep your money records in one place: you add your bank statements, sort each payment (work or not) and Doddl shows you how much to set aside for your tax.

Your number is an estimate, there to help you set aside the right amount. Your exact figure is confirmed when your year is filed.

3. What Doddl is not

  • Doddl is not tax, financial or legal advice, and we are not your accountant. It does the maths on the books you build in the app; decisions about your own tax affairs stay yours. If your situation is unusual or complicated, a qualified professional is the right person to ask.
  • Doddl is independent software. We are not HMRC, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by HMRC or any government body.
  • Doddl only knows what you give it. The estimate is built from the payments in your account and how you’ve sorted them. If money comes in or goes out somewhere Doddl can’t see, the estimate won’t include it.

4. Your account

You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time passcode. Keep your phone and number secure: anyone with access to them could access your account. Your account is for you personally and for your own business records. Let us know straight away at hello@doddl.app if you think someone else has used it.

5. Your side of the deal

  • Give us accurate information, and upload only statements for accounts you’re entitled to use.
  • Sorting your payments is yours to do: Doddl doesn’t decide for you what counts as work. The quality of your numbers follows from the quality of your sorting.
  • You stay responsible for your own tax affairs, including anything you send to HMRC and when you send it.

6. Fair use

Don’t use Doddl to break the law, to handle anyone else’s data without their permission, or to probe, overload or interfere with the service. Don’t copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app. We can suspend or close accounts that do any of these.

7. Plans and payment

Doddl has free and paid plans. What each plan includes, what it costs, and how billing works are shown to you before you pay anything, and those details form part of these terms when you subscribe. We’ll always tell you before a price change affects you.

8. Founding creators (pilot)

If you joined Doddl through our founding creators pilot (the first 10 places offered at doddl.app/join), this section applies to you.

  • Your founding offer is the sole trader plan, free for one year from the day your account is set up. “The sole trader plan” means that plan as it exists and evolves over time.
  • We’ll tell you before the free year ends. After it, the plan carries on at the normal price unless you cancel, and you can cancel at any point before then.
  • The offer does not include other plans or paid extras, now or in future. VAT features, any Pro or higher tier, and paid add-ons are separate, and you’re welcome to them at the normal price.
  • The offer is personal to you and your account. It can’t be transferred, shared, or sold.
  • During the pilot, Doddl is provided through Apple’s TestFlight as beta software: things may change, break, or be reset while we improve it.
  • Being a founding creator means taking part: honest feedback when we ask for it, and the setup session. If an account is clearly not participating in the pilot, we may move it to a standard plan after telling you first.
  • Everything else in these terms applies as normal.

9. Leaving

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: no calls, no forms. What happens to your data when you do is covered in our privacy policy.

We can suspend or end your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if we do, we’ll tell you why unless the law prevents us.

10. Our promises and their limits

We work hard to keep Doddl available, accurate and safe, but no software is perfect: we provide the service with reasonable skill and care, and we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Because Doddl’s figures are estimates built from your own records (see sections 2 and 3), we are not liable for your tax position or for decisions you make based on the app. Our total liability to you, however arising, is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Reporting a security problem

If you find something that looks like a security weakness in Doddl, please email security@doddl.app with the details. We take reports seriously, act on them quickly, and won’t take action against anyone reporting in good faith.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product or the law changes. If a change matters to you, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Doddl after a change takes effect, that means you accept it, and if you don’t, you can leave at any time (section 9).

13. The legal wrapper

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim where you live. If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
